The German marine and offshore equipment industry sector (including steel) comprises nearly 400 manufacturing companies with a total turnover of about 10 billion Euro. The main markets are merchant ship newbuilding, ship repair, and navy ships. This section employs round about 70,000 people.
The MARINE AND OFFSHORE EQUIPMENT INDUSTRIES, founded in 1973 and based in Hamburg, is a special division of the non-profit organization German Engineering Federation (VDMA). The member companies are from industrial branches like mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic industry.
